The clinic operated from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with City and County Health Department staff receiving assistance from the Univeristy of Colorado – Pueblo nursing students.

Screening was conducted to determine who qualified for the 1,300 doses of vaccine which were available. While the Event Center became quite full, the crowds remained patient and in good spirits as each awaited their turn for screening. Once a person was determined to qualify for priority vaccine, they were given the flu shot.

Health Department officials plan to hold additional clinics as soon as the week of October 26th as more N1H1 vaccine doses arrive. The vaccines are being provided free of charge. Contact the Health Department to determine the dates and times of future clinics.

Saturday, October 24 was a great day for CSU-Pueblo football. The ThunderWolves stomped Western State’s Mountaineers in a 38 to 27 victory. The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference game was played at the Neta and Eddie DeRose ThunderBowl.

By fighting the Mountaineers stubborn defense, the ThunderWolves took the defense down stone by stone. Lewis, a mere 5-foot 6-inches and 165 pounds, rushed 181 yards total and achieved three touchdowns for the team. Converted cornerback Johnson added an additional 99 yards and another touchdown. The team totaled 328 yards rushing, using their offensive line consisting of only freshmen players.

A rather unconventional game play using the wildcat play allowed Lewis to take snaps directly from centr and hand them off to Johnson or, if he saw a clear spot to run into, take the ball away himself.

A critical play just before halftime began as the ‘Wolves were at their own 34 yard line on 3rd down with 18 yards to go. Clancy saw receiver Augie Agyei and Agyei carried down the sidelines for 37 yards, keeping the play alive. Johnson then closed the deal with a 1-yard touchdown drive. This play left the ThunderWolves 24 to 14 at halftime.

The Mountaineers were able to cut the lead down a bit when Gillespie returns a field gold attempt 75 yards for a touchdown. However, Western Sate never gained the momentum to threaten CSU-Pueblo.

As the game reached its victorious climax, students began preparing for the homecoming dance to be held that night. Colorado State University – Pueblo enjoyed a great weekend in very way.

The City has delayed the opening of the dispensary and is proposing an ordinance which will delay the opening 90 days.

On Monday, October 26, the City Council will hear the proposed ordinance to delay opening of such facilities and allow the public to comment in the meeting. City Attorney Tom Jagger stated that action on the ordinance is expected in one to two weeks.

MediMar Ministries plans to hold its own meeting on Wednesday, October 28 at 6 p.m. at their dispensary offices. The meeting is planned to present not only information about the city’s proposed ordinance but also state and federal laws regarding marijuana for medicinal use. They will discuss the process of how a patient registers for legal medicinal marijuana use as well as how to become an approved caregiver to patients.

The dispensary plans to challenge the city in legal action in efforts to open their facility for medicinal marijuana dispensing through their legal representative, Jim Oliver. They hope to have this legal matter heard within two weeks.

The painting, Harpo, Marley and The Grim Reaper just to name a few.

It is recommended if you are going to ride the rapids of Pueblo’s Whitewater park that you follow the rules of the park buy using using life jackets that are required by state law. Stay on established trails and rocks . While wear helmets and cold water clothing for protection.

Because of the location of Whitewater park running wright through the city of Pueblo. When you are finished with a long fun day of kayaking you can visit the many shops and restaurants that are located near the park for that well deserved meal or souvenir.

For more infomation on how you can enjoy kayaking at Whitewater park . Visit the Whitewater park website and for you locals checkout Pueblo Paddlers for club info, course info and river events for extreme water fun.

It’s not to often these days that you see a family business thriving in this type of economy. With today’s big business many small business are bought out by larger companies or there is no family to keep the business going and they just fold from lack of family interest.

Here is a family business that has stood the test of time. Every town needs a place to purchase lumber and hardware goods such as paint and nails. The people of pueblo have been doing just that passing through the doors of Rush lumber going on for the past 100 years.

Its has not been easy staying in business for such a long time. When big national supply stores come into your neighborhood with large volumes of inventory and a huge company brand. It is sure to have an effect on your bottom line.

But there is one thing that these big store chains cannot compete with and that is the personal touch of knowing your customers through decades and generations of people who send there kids and there kids, kids to purchase from a place that they know and trust.

Rush lumber is one of these places. So if you are ever in the neighborhood and need a little friendly neighborhood advice on a home project. Make it a point to stop at Rush lumber a 100 years of helping the person next door.
